A viral video on social media reveals BYD’s upcoming EV plant in Zhengzhou – planned across 8 phases, the site is estimated to cover a jaw-dropping 32,000 acres making it larger than San Francisco (30,000 acres) and 10x the size of Tesla’s Gigafactory in Nevada (3,200 acres).
BYD has not officially confirmed the size of the project, but the footage features sprawling production halls, sports facilities and on-site worker housing with vast areas still under development. Over 60,000 employees currently work at the site today with plans to add another 20,000 more in the first quarter of 2025.
